Multiple Vessels Arrive in Turkey Ahead of Gaza Mission
More than 30 vessels from the Global Sumud Flotilla have arrived in Marmaris, a coastal town in Turkiye. The ships are preparing to set sail for Gaza, where they aim to challenge Israel’s blockade.
The flotilla, which includes over 30 boats, is scheduled to depart soon. In April, Israeli authorities intercepted 22 vessels off the coast of Greece and detained activists on board.
The Global Sumud Flotilla is a coalition of organizations and individuals who are advocating for an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The flotilla’s mission is to demonstrate international support for the Palestinian people and to pressure Israel to lift its restrictions on the territory.
The Turkish port of Marmaris has served as a staging point for the flotilla’s journey, allowing the vessels to prepare for their final leg of the trip. The ships are now preparing to depart for Gaza, where they will face Israeli naval forces and potentially be intercepted by authorities.
Details of the flotilla’s route and itinerary have not been made public, but sources close to the organization have confirmed that the vessels will be sailing through international waters before reaching their destination in Gaza.
