Timothee Chalamet Wins Best Actor Award at Golden Globes
At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, Timothee Chalamet received the award for best actor in a musical or comedy for his role in the film Marty Supreme. The ceremony took place on Sunday and saw several other notable wins.
The film Marty Supreme, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, also won awards for director, screenplay, and female in a supporting role. Netflix’s Adolescence, which explores online misogyny, won the award for best limited series, anthology series or motion picture made for television.
Other winners included Hamnet, a drama about the marriage of William and Agnes Shakespeare following their child’s loss, and Sinners, a vampire horror film set in Jim Crow-era Mississippi. Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet took home the award for best drama, while Sinners was recognized for box office and cinematic achievement and best score.
Timothee Chalamet expressed gratitude during his acceptance speech, citing his upbringing as an influence on his attitude towards life. He also acknowledged the impact of past experiences on his current moment, stating that they made his win “sweeter”. The ceremony’s winners were recognized for their work in various categories, with many praising the audience and the collaborative effort behind each film.
