Australian Open Tennis Tournament Details Announced for 2026 Season

Australian Open 2026 Set to Begin in Melbourne

The world’s top tennis players have arrived in Melbourne, Australia, as the first Grand Slam of the year gets underway. The tournament will take place on hard courts at Melbourne Park, with all-time great Novak Djokovic seeking a record-extending 11th Australian Open title and 25th Grand Slam title.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner is among those competing in the men’s draw, while world number one Carlos Alcaraz aims to win his first Australian Open title. In the women’s draw, top seed Aryna Sabalenka will attempt to win her third Australian Open title, facing a tough challenge from Iga Swiatek.

The tournament schedule includes the Rod Laver Arena for both men’s and women’s singles finals on January 31 and February 1, respectively. The first round of men’s and women’s singles matches begins on Sunday, January 18.

Madison Keys won her first Slam in three sets against Sabalenka in the 2025 final. In the men’s draw, Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev in straight sets to win his second Australian Open title. Serbia’s Novak Djokovic has announced his participation in the tournament and will be competing for a record-extending 11th Australian Open title.

The Australian Open features an exciting mix of former champions and current top-ranked players, including Daniil Medvedev and Aryna Sabalenka. Carlos Alcaraz aims to win his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, while Jannik Sinner seeks to complete a “three-peat” at the only Grand Slam he’s won more than once.

The tournament will take place on hard courts at Melbourne Park, with thousands of fans expected to attend. The Brisbane International and ATP Finals are seen as warm-up events for the Australian Open, with many players using these tournaments to prepare for the main event.
