Australian Sprinter Gout Receives Advice from Olympic Legend Bolt
Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt has advised Australian sprint sensation Gout to surround himself with a strong support team in order to stay focused on his career. Gout, 18, has earned comparisons with the Jamaican sprinting great and is being touted as a potential gold medallist for the 2032 Olympics.
Gout recently won the 200 metres title at the Australian Athletics Championships with a time of 19.67 seconds, followed by a victory in the under-20 100m event where he finished in 10.21 seconds. Bolt holds world records in both events and shared his experience with CNN.
“I was there, you start getting put left and right, and then you forget track and field,” Bolt said. “Hopefully, he has the right set of people to guide him and keep him focused on track and field because the rest of the stuff will always be there.”
Gout is set to make his Diamond League debut in Oslo on June 10, competing against a strong field led by reigning Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo. His rapid rise on the track began with a notable performance at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in December 2024, where he clocked 20.04 seconds and shattered Peter Norman’s national record.
Gout’s talent was previously unknown to the international community, but his impressive performances have drawn attention from around the world.
