Bahrain Arrests Dozens Over Alleged Ties to Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry Announces Arrests of 41 Individuals Linked to Iranian Entity

The Bahraini government has confirmed that it has arrested 41 individuals in connection with an alleged group linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran. According to a statement released by the ministry on Saturday, “legal proceedings are underway” against those detained.

The arrests were made in relation to earlier investigations into espionage and expressions of support for Iranian attacks during a recent conflict between Israel and the United States. The conflict, which began in late February, saw Iran launch thousands of missiles and drones at its Gulf neighbors, including Bahrain.

Bahrain has taken steps to crack down on perceived pro-Iranian activity within its borders, warning that individuals who express support for Iranian attacks could face prosecution. In recent months, the country has arrested dozens of individuals accused of spying for the IRGC and stripped 69 people of their citizenship over alleged sympathies with Iran.

Other regional countries have also launched investigations into alleged Iran-linked entities since the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently announced the arrest of dozens of individuals linked to an Iran-linked group, accusing them of pledging allegiance to foreign entities and harming national unity.

The fragile US-Iran ceasefire remains in effect, despite recent clashes in the Strait of Hormuz. The US is awaiting a formal response from Iran on a proposal to end the war.
