Bahrain Arrests Dozens Suspected of Ties to Irans Revolutionary Guard Corps

Bahrain Arrests 41 People Linked to Iranian-Backed Group

The Bahrain Interior Ministry announced Saturday that it has arrested 41 individuals in connection with a group allegedly linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran. The ministry stated that legal proceedings are underway against those detained.

According to the ministry, the arrests relate to earlier investigations into espionage and expressions of support for Iranian attacks during the conflict launched by Israel and the United States in late February. Bahrain has been cracking down on perceived pro-Iran support within its borders since the start of the war.

Earlier this year, Bahraini authorities arrested dozens of individuals suspected of spying for the IRGC, and 69 people had their citizenship revoked after being accused of sympathizing with Iran and collaborating with foreign entities. The London-based Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy described the move as “dangerous” and a clear violation of international law.

Other regional countries have also launched investigations into alleged Iran-linked entities since the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. In the United Arab Emirates, the State Security Service recently uncovered an Iran-linked group and arrested dozens of its members, accusing them of pledging allegiance to foreign entities and harming national unity and social peace.

The fragile US-Iran ceasefire agreed on April 8 remains in effect, despite recent clashes in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The US is awaiting a formal response from Iran on a proposal to end the war.
