Bahrain reports damage to water desalination plant from alleged Iranian drone strike

Bahrain Reports Damage from Iranian Drone Attack

A drone attack by Iran damaged a water desalination plant in Bahrain, injuring three people, according to the country’s Ministry of Interior. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, causing material damage to the facility.

The ministry stated that the attack was carried out by an Iranian drone and resulted in the injury of three individuals. Additionally, a university building in northern Bahrain suffered damage due to fragments from the missile falling nearby.

Iran has denied responsibility for the attack, claiming that the United States set a precedent for such actions when it targeted a water desalination plant on Iranian soil. The country’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated that attacking Iran’s infrastructure is a “dangerous move with grave consequences.”

The incident occurred as part of an ongoing air campaign by Iran against its Gulf neighbours. Other countries in the region, including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, have also reported damage from Iranian drone attacks.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned on Sunday that his country would respond to any attack on its territory. The statement was made after a previous apology to neighbouring countries hosting US military bases for attacks on their territory.

The incident highlights the ongoing tensions between Iran and its Gulf neighbours, with multiple countries reporting damage from Iranian drone attacks in recent days.
