Bangladesh wins first home Test against Pakistan with Ranas starring performance

Bangladesh Secures Maiden Home Test Victory Against Pakistan

In a rain-hit first Test, Bangladesh claimed a 104-run victory over Pakistan at the Dhaka stadium, securing their maiden home Test win against the visiting team. The match saw five wickets taken by pace bowler Nahid Rana, who contributed to Bangladesh’s triumph.

Pakistan was chasing 268 runs for victory when they were reduced to 163 all-out in the final session on Tuesday. Debutant Abdullah Fazal scored a valiant 66, but his efforts were ultimately in vain as Bangladesh’s bowlers proved too strong. The Test win marked Bangladesh’s first against Pakistan at home and their third overall.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto praised his team’s performance, stating that they had worked hard to improve their skills in Test cricket. He also equalled Mushfiqur Rahim’s record of seven Test wins as captain, achieving the milestone in just 17 matches.

The victory saw Bangladesh declare their second innings on 240-9, setting Pakistan a competitive target. Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took key wickets to limit Pakistan’s scoring opportunities. Rana delivered crucial blows, including a thunderous in-swinging yorker that bowled Mohammad Rizwan for 15.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood acknowledged his team’s failure to seize key moments in the match, stating that they needed to do better with bat and ball. The second match of the two-match series will take place on Saturday in Sylhet.
