Barcelona Advances to Semifinals with 2-1 Win Over Albacete

In a Spanish Cup quarterfinal match played on Tuesday, Barcelona defeated second-division side Albacete 2-1 away from home. The victory marked the first time this season that Barcelona has reached the semifinals.

Lamine Yamal scored in the 39th minute to give Barcelona an early lead. Captain Ronald Araujo added to the score with a goal from a corner kick in the second half. Albacete pulled one back through Javier Moreno in the 87th minute, but Barcelona held on for the win.

Albacete had previously upset Celta Vigo and Real Madrid in previous rounds of the competition. However, they were unable to overcome Barcelona’s defense. The match saw several late attempts by Albacete to equalize, including a diving header from Moreno and a shot blocked by Gerard Martin.

Barcelona will now move on to the semifinals, where they will face an opponent to be determined. Other quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, with Deportivo Alaves hosting Real Sociedad and Valencia facing Athletic Bilbao at home.
