Barcelona Celebrate La Liga Win with Palestinian Flag Display

Thousands of Barcelona fans gathered in the streets of the Spanish city on Monday to celebrate the team’s La Liga title win. The parade featured an open-top bus, which was accompanied by tens of thousands of people lining the streets.

During the celebration, 18-year-old Lamine Yayal, a member of the team, was seen waving a Palestinian flag from inside the bus. Footage of the incident has been widely shared online, showing Yayal’s gesture to cheers from the crowd.

Barcelona secured their 29th La Liga title with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday, marking the second time an El Clasico match has determined the league outcome. The city of Barcelona has been a hub for pro-Palestinian activism in Spain since October 2023, when Israel launched its military operation in Gaza.

The city has also hosted large regular protests and served as a departure point for aid flotillas attempting to break the blockade on Gaza. Yayal’s gesture during the parade has garnered attention from football fans worldwide.
