Real Madrid’s La Liga Title Challenge Halted by Late Equalizer from Hector Bellerin

A 1-1 draw between Real Betis and Real Madrid has dealt a significant blow to Los Blancos’ title aspirations in La Liga. The match, played on Friday, saw Vinicius Junior open the scoring for Madrid in the 17th minute, but was levelled by Hector Bellerin’s injury-time equalizer for Betis.

The draw sees Barcelona maintain their provisional eight-point lead over Madrid, with the champions now 11 points behind their Catalan rivals. Real Madrid will face Getafe on Saturday and have the opportunity to move 11 points clear of Los Blancos with a victory.

Madrid had several chances to increase their lead, but were thwarted by the efforts of Betis goalkeeper Alvaro Valles. Jude Bellingham’s attempt to double the score was also denied by Valles’ impressive save. The match ended in controversy when Betis appealed for a penalty after Brahim Diaz appeared to touch the ball with his hand in his own box, but the appeal was unsuccessful.

The draw marks a significant shift in momentum in the title race, with Barcelona now poised to claim the championship. Real Madrid will need to regroup and refocus if they are to mount a successful challenge for the title.
