Barcelona to Face Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday
Barcelona will host Osasuna at El Sadar Stadium on Saturday in a La Liga match that could further pressure Real Madrid’s title hopes. A win for Barcelona would increase the gap between the two teams and potentially secure their second consecutive La Liga title.
The Catalan club currently leads Real Madrid by 11 points with five games remaining in the season. If Barcelona wins at Osasuna, Real Madrid must also win at Espanyol on Sunday to prolong the title race.
Barcelona has won nine straight matches in La Liga, although they suffered a loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals. The team is led by coach Hansi Flick, who is seeking his third major title with Barcelona.
Osasuna, currently ninth in the league standings, has lost only twice at home this season and is on a 10-match unbeaten streak. However, Barcelona will face a tough test against the home team.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, has struggled in recent games, losing one of its last six matches across all competitions. The team’s coach, Xabi Alonso, was fired earlier in the season, and Alvaro Arbeloa is expected to be ousted in the offseason.
Espanyol, which has been in a slump, has yet to win this year and is trying to avoid relegation. Atletico Madrid plays at Valencia on Saturday before facing Arsenal next week with their Champions League semifinal still pending.
Barcelona’s midfielder Fermin Lopez is expected to play for Spain at the World Cup and has been one of the team’s most productive attacking players, scoring 13 goals this season and providing 16 assists. Vinicius Junior has maintained his form with two league goals in his last two games, while Lamine Yamal is out for the season due to a muscle injury.
Coach Flick expressed optimism about Raphinha’s return from injury, saying that he will travel with the team and provide a positive impact on the pitch. The coach also stated that Yamal is recovering well from his hamstring injury and is expected to be ready for the World Cup.
