Barcelona secured a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid on Saturday, strengthening their hold on the Spanish league lead. Atletico Madrid are currently on a losing streak, having lost three consecutive matches in all tournaments. They trail third-placed Villarreal by one point in La Liga. Coach Diego Simeone has rotated his team for the match, citing the importance of the Champions League quarterfinal first leg.

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick stated that both teams will be better prepared for the match. Atletico coach Simeone described his side’s performance as “good,” emphasizing the need to focus on the upcoming game.

The two teams have a history of competition, with Barcelona having secured a 7-2 victory over Newcastle United in their previous Champions League match at Camp Nou. The first leg will be followed by the second leg, which will take place at Atletico Madrid’s home stadium.
