Benjamin Netanyahu receives treatment for prostate cancer in Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has disclosed that he underwent treatment for early-stage prostate cancer after a small tumor was discovered during a routine medical checkup.

According to his annual medical report, published on Friday, Netanyahu’s doctors detected and treated the tumor during a recent examination. The information was not previously announced, but Netanyahu stated that it was intentionally delayed by two months to avoid being released during the height of the conflict with Iran.

Netanyahu had undergone surgery for an enlarged benign prostate in 2024 and has since been under regular medical monitoring. During his most recent checkup, the tumor was discovered, and he received radiation therapy as part of his treatment.

The medical report also noted that Netanyahu’s overall health is good, aside from the cancer diagnosis. Aharon Popovtser, director of Hadassah Hospital’s oncology unit, stated that the disease has disappeared based on test results.

Netanyahu, who has been Israel’s longest-serving prime minister, faced speculation about his health during the US-Israel attacks on Iran, with fake images circulating suggesting he had died. The Israeli leader recorded a video to refute these claims in March.
