Bus crashes into Kashmir gorge, killing at least 21 people

A Bus Accident in Indian-Controlled Kashmir Results in Multiple Fatalities
At approximately 8:30am local time on Monday, a 42-seater bus carrying over 60 passengers skidded off the road while navigating a sharp curve in the mountainous region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. The incident occurred near Kanote village.
According to Civil Administrator Prem Singh, the bus was traveling from Ramnagar town to Udhampur city when it collided with an autorickshaw at the curve. The vehicle then veered off the road and fell approximately 30 meters into a gorge below.
As a result of the accident, at least 21 people have lost their lives. Nineteen passengers died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries in a hospital after being evacuated. Around 45 individuals were injured, with some in critical condition, and are receiving treatment at various health centers.
According to a health official at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Ramnagar, most of the victims suffered severe head trauma and internal bleeding. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences for the victims’ families on social media and announced monetary relief for those affected.
