California Governor Newsom under investigation by US Department of Justice

California Governor Gavin Newsom has made a statement regarding an alleged investigation by the US Department of Justice. In a video post on X, Newsom claimed that he and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, are being targeted due to his consideration of running for president in 2028.

Newsom stated that the investigation is believed to be politically motivated and that federal agents have been seeking to interview his friends and former employees. He also mentioned that investigators are focusing on his wife’s non-profit organization, which promotes women’s equality.

The Department of Justice has not confirmed any investigation into Newsom. However, it was reported earlier that President Donald Trump had vowed to prosecute his political opponents. In the past, the department has indicted or sought to indict several high-profile individuals, including New York Attorney General Letitia James and Former FBI Director James Comey.

Newsom also made a reference to Trump’s criticism of him on social media, stating that he is being targeted because of his potential presidential run. The governor has adopted a similar approach online, often posting critical content about the president.

It is worth noting that Newsom’s term as governor ends in January 2027, and he has been critical of Trump’s policies and actions during his presidency.
