Cameroon’s Football Federation President Suspended for Four Games
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended Cameroon’s football federation president, Samuel Eto’o, for four games, along with a $20,000 fine. The decision was made by the disciplinary committee of CAF.
According to the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), it has taken note of the suspension and fine imposed on its president. However, the federation expressed concerns that the expedited procedure leading to this decision lacked explicit justification.
FECAFOOT stated that it “lacks any explicit justification” for the suspension and fine. The federation also noted that the process raised serious concerns regarding fair trial requirements.
The CAF had announced an investigation into match incidents during the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations, including the Morocco-Cameroon match where Eto’o was seen gesturing angrily towards Moroccan counterpart Fouzi Lekjaa. However, no specific details were provided about the incidents.
FECAFOOT has reaffirmed its support for its president and commitment to upholding principles governing credible disciplinary justice.
