Ghana Appoints Carlos Queiroz as Head Coach of National Team

The Ghana Football Association has announced the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as the head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars. The decision was made by the Executive Council of the GFA, in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Queiroz, 73, joins the team after leaving his role as Oman’s coach last month. He will lead Ghana’s preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which takes place less than two months from now. Queiroz has previously coached Portugal to the round of 16 at the 2010 World Cup and Iran at the last three editions of the tournament.

Queiroz was selected from over 600 local and foreign applications due to his extensive experience in the FIFA World Cup. He will make his fifth consecutive appearance as coach at the World Cup with the Black Stars. The team has been drawn into Group L alongside Croatia, England, and Panama.

The Black Stars have warm-up matches scheduled against Mexico on May 22 and Wales on June 2. Queiroz stated that he is ready to give everything of his experience and knowledge once again, in service of the game and the happiness of people.
