Cleveland Cavaliers Advance to Eastern Conference Finals with Dominant Win Over Detroit Pistons
The Cleveland Cavaliers have secured a spot in the Eastern Conference finals after defeating the Detroit Pistons 125-94 in Game 7 of their playoff series. Led by Donovan Mitchell’s 26 points, the Cavaliers dominated the game from start to finish.
In the first half, the Cavaliers built a significant lead, extending it to as much as 20 points. They continued to outperform the Pistons in every aspect, including shooting and rebounding. The Cavaliers shot 50.6% from the field, while the Pistons managed just 35.3%. The team also outrebounded their opponents 50-41.
Jarrett Allen had a standout performance, scoring 23 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in the first half. He credited Mitchell for setting the tone early on, saying that he started distributing the ball instead of trying to score every basket. Evan Mobley also contributed with his first double-double of the series, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The Cavaliers will face the New York Knicks in a best-of-seven series starting on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. The team’s coach, J.B. Bickerstaff, congratulated the Cavaliers while acknowledging that they outplayed them. “We knew it was going to be a tough series and a tough test for us,” he said. “Give them credit for it. We’ll learn from it, and next year, we’ll grow and be a better team.”
The Pistons were led by Daniss Jenkins’ 17 points and five assists, while Duncan Robinson scored 13 points. The team will look to regroup and improve for next season.
The Cavaliers will have only one day off before facing the Knicks in New York. They are confident that they can perform well in a loud environment, having already taken over games like Madison Square Garden.
