China Warns Against Government Change in Iran Without Popular Support

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on Iran to exercise its sovereignty and urged an immediate halt to military operations in the Middle East. During a news conference at an annual gathering in Beijing, Wang emphasized that any attempt to seek government change in Iran would lack public support.
Wang also expressed his country’s commitment to respecting the sovereignty of all nations, including Iran. He stated that China demands “an immediate stop to military operations” in the region to prevent further escalation and potential spillover into other countries.
The Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of dialogue and negotiation in resolving conflicts. Wang urged all parties involved to return to the negotiating table as quickly as possible to work towards a common understanding and security.
China has also condemned the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports. The country maintains its relations with Russia, which has been subject to criticism from Western nations regarding its involvement in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
A recent US National Intelligence Council report suggests that a large-scale military operation by the United States would be unlikely to overthrow Iran’s military and clerical power structure. This finding contradicts previous statements made by US President Donald Trump about his ability to install a preferred successor in Iran.
China has reaffirmed its commitment to working with regional countries to restore order, calm tensions, and promote peace in the Middle East.
