Countries urge citizens to leave Iran due to US military threat

Multiple Countries Warn Citizens Against Traveling to Iran Amid US Threats

Several countries have issued warnings to their citizens to avoid traveling to Iran as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate. The warnings come ahead of a scheduled round of indirect talks between US and Iranian diplomats in Geneva.

US President Donald Trump has been critical of Iran, accusing the country of attempting to rebuild its nuclear program and possessing missiles that could reach the US mainland. However, he also expressed his preference for a diplomatic resolution.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that a deal with Washington is “within reach,” but emphasized that Iran will not agree to certain demands, including zero nuclear enrichment. The country considers its missile program a non-negotiable issue.

In response to the escalating tensions, several countries have advised their citizens to leave Iran immediately. Germany has warned its citizens to depart “as soon as possible” due to the risk of arbitrary detention and volatile regional security. India has also cautioned its citizens, including students, pilgrims, and business owners, to exercise caution and consider leaving by any means available.

South Korea has issued a safety notice warning of rapidly escalating regional tensions and the possibility of a US attack on Iran. The Serbian foreign ministry has advised citizens not to travel to Iran in the coming period and urged those already inside the country to leave immediately.

Sweden’s Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard emphasized the importance of avoiding travel to Iran, citing the uncertainty of the situation.
