Cristiano Ronaldo sits out Al-Nassr match due to reported team issues

Cristiano Ronaldo Misses Second Consecutive Game for Al-Nassr in Saudi Pro League

Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from the team’s 2-0 win over Al-Ittihad at home on Friday, marking his second consecutive game missed due to unspecified reasons. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has also sat out their previous match against Al-Riyadh on Monday.

According to reports, Ronaldo was not in the squad for either of these games. The Portuguese superstar’s absence has raised questions about his long-term future at the club. Sources close to the team have stated that Ronaldo is unhappy with the club’s management by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), citing a lack of transfer activity.

The Saudi Pro League issued a statement emphasizing that clubs operate independently and make their own decisions on recruitment, spending, and strategy. The league’s framework aims to ensure sustainability and competitive balance across all teams.

Al-Nassr CEO Jose Semedo has declined to comment on Ronaldo’s absence. However, it is reported that Ronaldo is not injured or ill and is not out of favor with manager Jorge Jesus. Additionally, there is no indication that Ronaldo intends to leave the club, which signed him to a lucrative two-year contract extension in June 2025.

Ronaldo has scored 17 goals for Al-Nassr this season. The club’s senior officials understand Ronaldo’s concerns regarding the PIF, but details of his dissatisfaction remain unclear.
