US-Venezuela Direct Flights Resume After Seven-Year Suspension
A direct commercial flight between the United States and Venezuela has resumed after a seven-year hiatus. The first such flight departed from Miami International Airport to Caracas, Venezuela’s capital city, on Thursday.
The resumption of direct flights comes after the US government captured former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January. Following his capture, diplomatic relations between the two countries were restored in early March.
According to reports, the restoration of diplomatic ties has led to an increase in travel and trade between the US and Venezuela. The resumption of direct flights is seen as a significant development in this regard.
The flight from Miami to Caracas marks the first time that commercial air travel between the two countries has taken place since 2015. Prior to the suspension, there were no direct flights between the US and Venezuela due to strained relations.
The resumption of direct flights is expected to have various implications for trade, tourism, and other sectors. Details on the frequency and schedules of these flights are not yet available.
Further information on this development will be provided as it becomes available.
