Seventeen international medical organizations have filed a petition with Israel’s Supreme Court, citing concerns over recent government actions that may impact their operations in Gaza.
According to reports, 37 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in the territory have been targeted by Israeli authorities. The NGOs are required to provide detailed information about their Palestinian staff members, which has sparked fears among aid groups.
The petitioners, including Doctors Without Borders, claim that the government’s demands may lead to a humanitarian crisis. They argue that the requested data could compromise the confidentiality and security of their employees.
In response to the allegations, Israeli authorities have stated that they are taking measures to ensure transparency and accountability in the NGOs operating in Gaza.
The 17 international medical organizations involved in the petition include agencies such as Doctors Without Borders, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The petitioners are seeking clarification on the government’s demands and an assurance that their operations will not be disrupted.
The situation has raised concerns among aid groups about the potential impact on humanitarian efforts in Gaza. The 37 NGOs targeted by Israeli authorities include organizations providing medical care, food assistance, and other essential services to the local population.
The petitioners are seeking a resolution to the dispute, which could have significant implications for the delivery of aid to Gaza residents.
