Dozens of Palestinians were injured on Friday morning in a series of attacks carried out by Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank. The incidents occurred in several towns and villages under military protection, with settlers targeting Palestinian farmers near Talfit, a village south of Nablus.
According to local sources, images from the area showed damage to homes and vehicles as a result of the attack. In another part of the West Bank, Israeli settlers destroyed approximately 300 olive trees near the town of Turmus Aya in Ramallah.
The United Nations reported that at least 1,054 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank by Israeli troops and settlers between October 7, 2023, and February 5 this year. Additionally, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes across the West Bank, with many unable to return due to Israel’s refusal.
The Israeli government recently approved plans to extend its authority over more of the West Bank, which has drawn international condemnation. The United Nations human rights chief stated that these decisions could lead to further displacement and dispossession of Palestinians, as well as the creation of additional illegal settlements.
According to UN officials, senior Israeli officials have been promoting rhetoric that supports these actions, which violate Israel’s obligations as an occupying power. The organization is calling for these decisions to be overturned in order to preserve the existing legal order and social fabric of the occupied territory.
