X CEO Elon Musk has responded to the calls, stating that he was not aware of any “naked underage images” generated by Grok. In a social media post, Musk said, “I [am] not aware of any naked underage images generated by Grok. Literally zero.”

Musk reiterated that Grok is programmed to refuse illegal requests and complies with the laws of any given country or state. He also stated that users who attempt to make illegal content using Grok will face consequences similar to those for uploading illicit material.

Three US senators recently made a public call on Apple and Google to remove X and its AI chatbot from their app stores, citing concerns over nonconsensual sexual images of women and minors on the platform. A coalition of women’s groups, tech watchdogs, and progressive activists also expressed similar concerns.

X has taken steps to limit Grok’s ability to generate or edit images publicly for many users. However, industry experts have noted that restrictions may not fully block access to deeper AI image tools.

The UK is set to introduce new laws this week aimed at criminalizing the creation of sexually explicit images. X has stated that it is working to comply with these regulations. Countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia have also blocked access to Grok and are pursuing legal action against X and its AI unit xAI, alleging failures to prevent harmful content and protect users.

The situation surrounding Grok and X continues to unfold, with ongoing scrutiny from lawmakers, advocacy groups, and regulatory bodies worldwide.
