England edges Pakistan in thrilling T20 World Cup match

England Advances in T20 World Cup with Narrow Win Over Pakistan

In a closely contested match, England secured a two-wicket victory over Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, advancing to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup. Captain Harry Brook scored a century under pressure, helping his team chase down a 165-run target in 19.1 overs.

Pakistan had set a total of 164-9, with opener Sahibzada Farhan scoring 63 runs off 45 balls and former captain Jos Buttler being dismissed early on. England’s top-order and lower-middle-order batters struggled initially, but Brook formed a crucial 52-run partnership with all-rounder Will Jacks to revive the innings.

Brook’s measured yet attacking onslaught combined with some poor fielding by Pakistan to help England regain momentum in the middle overs. However, his century was followed by a late batting collapse that gave Pakistan hope before being sealed off by Jofra Archer on the first ball of the 20th over.

Pakistan now faces an uncertain exit from the tournament, while England has secured their spot in the semifinals. The two teams will face different opponents in their next matches: England will play New Zealand on Friday, and Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka on Thursday.
