FIFA increases World Cup ticket availability with new premium categories

FIFA to Increase World Cup Ticket Availability

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced that it will make more tickets available for all 104 games in the upcoming World Cup. The move comes after the organization introduced new premium-priced tiers, which have sparked controversy among some fans.

As of Wednesday at 11am EDT, additional tickets will be made available for Categories 1, 2, and 3, in addition to the existing “front category” pricing. This is part of a broader ticket sale that began on April 1, with prices ranging from $140 for Category 3 to $10,990 for the final match.

FIFA has also reported that ticket sales are lagging for certain matches, including the US opener against Paraguay at Inglewood, California. According to a document distributed to local organizers, 40,934 tickets have been sold for the US-Paraguay game, while 50,661 tickets have been sold for the Iran-New Zealand contest.

FIFA has stated that the capacity at Los Angeles SoFi Stadium, where both games will be held, is projected to be approximately 69,650. However, this figure may change. The organization had previously priced US-Paraguay tickets at $1,120, $1,940, and $2,735, while Iran-New Zealand seats were priced at $140, $380, and $450.

FIFA has not commented on the new ticket categories introduced earlier this month.
