Five Iranian civilian bridges face potential US military strike

US President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran, stating that he will take “drastic measures” if the country does not comply with his demands. According to Trump, these measures would include the destruction of critical infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump’s statement was made on Tuesday, and it is unclear what specific actions he plans to take. However, experts have expressed concerns that such an action could be considered a war crime.

In recent days, there have been reports of US and Israeli military strikes against Iranian targets, including universities, hospitals, schools, research centers, and pharmaceutical companies. Last week, a US strike targeted the B1 bridge in Karaj, killing eight civilians who were under the bridge at the time.

Iran’s Bridge Management System has reported that the country has approximately 300,000 bridges and technical structures. Of these, about 185 exceed 100m in length, while only 42 have a main span of more than 50m.

Five of Iran’s most prominent bridges are currently under consideration due to their scale and economic importance. These include bridges with spans exceeding 330ft and those with critical infrastructure such as power plants and transportation hubs.

The situation remains tense, with international observers warning of the potential consequences of Trump’s actions.
