UEFA Issues Lifetime Ban to Czech Women’s Football Coach
The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has issued a lifetime ban to Petr Vlachovsky, a Czech women’s football coach who secretly filmed his players. According to the governing body, Vlachovsky will not be allowed to participate in any football-related activities for life.
Vlachovsky was previously convicted of filming FC Slovacko’s players in changing rooms, with the youngest player being 17 years old. He initially received a suspended one-year prison sentence and a five-year domestic coaching ban as part of his conviction. The coach had also previously served as the head coach of the Czech women’s Under-19 team.
The CEDB has requested that FIFA extend Vlachovsky’s ban to a worldwide level, while also ordering the Football Association of the Czech Republic to revoke his coaching license. FC Slovacko, the club where the incident occurred, stated that they had acted immediately upon becoming aware of the allegations and terminated their cooperation with Vlachovsky.
The FIFPRO, the football players’ union, welcomed the ban and UEFA’s request for an international ban on Vlachovsky. In a statement, FIFPRO emphasized the importance of safeguarding the wellbeing of players and stated that “abusive and inappropriate behaviour has no place in football”.
