Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani Admitted to Hospital
Rudolph Giuliani, 81, has been admitted to hospital and is reported to be in critical but stable condition, according to his spokesperson. Ted Goodman stated on X that Giuliani is “a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength” and is currently fighting with the same level of strength.
Giuliani’s health update comes after he appeared on his nightly online show, America’s Mayor Live, where he mentioned experiencing a cough. The exact reason for his hospitalization, length of stay, or prognosis are not yet known.
As a former mayor of New York City and a prominent figure in the Republican Party, Giuliani has been involved in various high-profile events throughout his career. He led the city through the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and made an unsuccessful run for president in 2008.
In recent years, Giuliani has faced several legal challenges, including a defamation case in which he lost $148m to two former Georgia election workers. He was also disbarred in New York and Washington, DC. In November, President Trump issued him a pardon related to the 2020 presidential election and other ongoing legal issues.
On Sunday, President Trump praised Giuliani as a “true warrior” and hailed him as one of New York’s best mayors.
