Former UK royal Prince Andrew arrested on public office misconduct charges

Former British Royal Arrested on Suspicion of Misconduct in Public Office

A 60-year-old man, believed to be Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a former member of the British royal family, has been arrested by Thames Valley police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct.

According to police, the man remains in custody and searches are being conducted at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The police have declined to release the identity of the individual due to national guidance.

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright stated that a thorough assessment had been conducted, leading to the opening of an investigation into the allegations. Wright emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity and objectivity of the investigation.

The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has urged Mountbatten-Windsor to cooperate with US authorities in their investigation. Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

In 2010, reports emerged that Mountbatten-Windsor had forwarded confidential information about his official trips as a trade envoy to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender. The UK royal was stripped of his title last year due to his association with Epstein.

The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations against Mountbatten-Windsor. The royal family has committed to cooperating with police on any investigation related to him.
