France launches investigation into possible Bank of America attack in Paris

French Authorities Launch Investigation into Foiled Attack on Bank of America’s Paris Headquarters

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez has announced that a high-level state of vigilance remains in place following the arrest of a suspect attempting to set off an explosive device outside Bank of America’s Paris headquarters. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, with police detaining the individual at approximately 3:25am local time.

According to reports, the suspect was found outside the bank’s headquarters in the city’s 8th arrondissement, where he allegedly attempted to ignite a device consisting of a five-litre container filled with an unidentified liquid and an explosive charge. The device was later taken into custody by police for forensic analysis.

A second individual who was present at the scene has fled and remains at large. French authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which is believed to be linked to a “terrorist plot”. The National Terrorism Prosecution Office has confirmed that the suspect faces charges related to the making, possession, and transport of an incendiary or explosive device with intent to cause damage.

Interior Minister Nunez has expressed gratitude to security and intelligence forces for their efforts in preventing what he described as a “violent terrorist attack”. The incident is believed to be linked to the current international situation, particularly in the Middle East. Bank of America has confirmed that it is aware of the situation and is working closely with authorities.

The investigation into the foiled attack is ongoing, with French authorities continuing to monitor the situation and assess potential links to accomplices or a broader network.
