French Open holds positive meeting with players on tennis dispute issues

French Tennis Federation Holds Meeting with Player Representatives

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has announced that it held a meeting with representatives of top tennis players to discuss revenue sharing at Grand Slam tournaments. The meeting, which took place on Friday, was seen as a positive step towards resolving the issue.

According to the FFT, the discussion allowed for a constructive exchange between the federation and the player representatives. Both parties have agreed to continue their dialogue and meet again in the coming weeks.

The meeting comes after a group of top players, including world number-ones Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka, began campaigning for a larger share of Grand Slam prize money. The players are seeking a 22 percent share by 2030, compared to around 15 percent currently.

As part of their demands, the players have been limiting their media commitments during the French Open. Representatives of top players will also be meeting with organizers of Wimbledon and the US Open in separate talks.

The FFT has committed to responding to the players’ proposals in the coming weeks. The meeting is seen as a step towards resolving the issue, but no further details have been announced.

The player representatives are seeking greater involvement in key decisions regarding Grand Slam tournaments, including investments in players’ well-being such as healthcare and maternity leave.
