Gaza Students Face Uncertainty as Universities Remain Closed Due to Conflict

Gaza Students Face Bureaucratic Delays in Pursuing Higher Education Abroad

Students from Gaza are facing significant challenges in pursuing higher education abroad due to the destruction of their local universities by Israel. Many have turned to international university scholarship programs as a means of accessing higher education.

According to reports, securing a spot through these programs is not sufficient for many students, who are instead experiencing severe bureaucratic delays when attempting to evacuate Gaza. Israeli authorities are reportedly responsible for the delays.

Several individuals from Gaza have spoken out about their experiences. Mohamed Alazeb, a displaced university student in Gaza, has expressed frustration with the situation. Ahmed Issa, founder of Scholarships for Ghazza, has highlighted the need for support and resources for students seeking higher education abroad.

Researcher Nora Parr from the University of Birmingham has also shed light on the issue, stating that international universities are often unaware of the complexities involved in processing student applications from Gaza. Meanwhile, Master’s student Ghada Ashour from Dublin City University has spoken about her own experiences with the bureaucratic process.

The situation highlights the difficulties faced by students from Gaza in accessing higher education due to the destruction of their local universities. Efforts are being made to address these challenges and provide support for students seeking to pursue their educational goals abroad.
