Gaza Residents Face Extreme Challenges Amid Ongoing Conflict
Women in Gaza are struggling to survive amidst the ongoing conflict, with daily food scarcity, lack of access to basic necessities, and repeated displacement taking a toll on their lives. A ceasefire stipulation has not alleviated the situation, as Israel continues to block critical winter aid, including tents and caravans.
Residents are managing to care for their children under conditions of absolute deprivation, while also providing support to injured, elderly, and orphaned individuals. The emotional burden of holding families together through grief, terror, and uncertainty is also significant.
According to reports, mothers in Gaza are often forced to make difficult choices to ensure the survival of their children. Some have reported sharing limited resources, including food, with family members. Women have also expressed difficulty accessing basic necessities like toilets and privacy, particularly in overcrowded shelters and tents.
The lack of access to essential services has resulted in a significant increase in malnutrition, with nearly everyone in Gaza affected. New mothers are struggling to breastfeed their newborns due to weakened bodies from prolonged hunger. The Israeli policy of preventing aid or commercial supplies from entry has forced women to risk death while trying to secure food rations for their families.
The situation is further complicated by the displacement of residents, who are often forced to pack and unpack their belongings repeatedly under heavy bombardment. Many women have reported feeling vulnerable due to the loss of a loved one, particularly those living without a husband.
In recent months, thousands of Palestinians were shot or killed while waiting for aid at Israeli distribution points. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with many residents facing extreme hardship and uncertainty.
