Gulf Cooperation Council States Emphasize Regional Security and Economic Development Amid Escalation
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting regional security, energy security, and economic development in the face of ongoing tensions in the region. GCC member states have reiterated their support for diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving conflicts between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
In a statement, the GCC emphasized its opposition to aggression and destabilization, and pledged to maintain unity in the face of external threats. The council also reaffirmed its rejection of any attempt to seize control of the Strait of Hormuz or use it as a pressure point.
The GCC states have called for the establishment of regional security arrangements, including joint defense mechanisms, to enhance collective deterrence. They have also emphasized the need to diversify energy routes and strengthen energy security through the development of new infrastructure projects.
In addition, the GCC has highlighted the importance of economic integration and trade facilitation, with a focus on developing transcontinental rail networks connecting East Asia to Europe via the Arab region. This initiative aims to deepen economic ties and revitalize the region’s role as a global trade hub.
The GCC states have also underscored the need for regional stability, which is closely tied to the resolution of the Palestinian question. They have reiterated their commitment to pursuing a just and comprehensive resolution on this issue.
The Gulf Cooperation Council has called on all parties involved in the conflict to engage in constructive dialogue and to prioritize regional stability and security. The council’s stance is grounded in its principles of good neighborliness and collective security, which aim to promote peace and cooperation in the region.
