High-Speed Trains Collide in Spain, Killing At Least Ten People

Mobile Intensive Care Units Deployed to Spanish Train Crash Site

At least 21 people have been confirmed dead and 25 injured after a high-speed train collision near Adamuz, Spain. A train traveling from Malaga to Madrid derailed on Sunday, crossing onto the other track and crashing into an oncoming train, which also derailed.

According to authorities, five mobile intensive care units, four emergency critical care units, and numerous ambulances were deployed to the scene. The focus of these services was on stabilizing the injured before transferring them to hospitals.

The Andalusia regional government’s president, Juanma Moreno, stated that the region’s solidarity and support for those affected would be provided. ADIF personnel are also coordinating with emergency services on the ground.

Trains traveling from the Andalusia region to Madrid have been suspended, with services from Cordoba, Sevilla, Malaga, and Huelva expected to be unavailable through Monday. A journalist who was on board the Malaga train reported that the last two carriages derailed, with the final carriage turning fully onto its side as it landed on the tracks.

The incident occurred near Adamuz, where authorities have set up a response to assist those affected by the crash.
