T20 World Cup Super Eights: India to Face South Africa
India, the defending champions and co-hosts of the T20 World Cup, will face off against South Africa in the Super Eights phase on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match is scheduled to take place at 7pm GMT.
Both teams have performed well in the group stage, with India claiming top spot after four wins from four matches and South Africa progressing to the Super Eights with a seven-wicket win over New Zealand. India’s bowlers are expected to target early wickets against South Africa, according to bowling coach Morne Morkel.
Morkel stated that Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram have been in good form for South Africa, and the team will aim to get early wickets to gain an advantage. India, on the other hand, has struggled with batting consistency, with opener Abhishek Sharma out of form. However, Morkel believes Sharma will return to form soon.
South Africa has been one of the form teams in the tournament so far, and their confidence is high. The team has shown resilience in close matches, including two nerve-shredding super overs against Afghanistan. India’s bowling coach emphasized that the match will be a clash of world-class players, with both teams expected to execute well.
The Super Eights phase is an important phase of the tournament, and both teams are heavy favourites to reach the semifinals. The match between India and South Africa promises to be a thrilling contest, with the defending champions looking to maintain their momentum and South Africa seeking to make a statement in the tournament.
