India Defeats Pakistan by 61 Runs in T20 World Cup Match
In a Group A match at the Twenty20 World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka, India secured their place in the Super Eight stage after defeating Pakistan by 61 runs. The defending champions made 175-7 in their innings, with Ishan Kishan scoring 77 runs.
Pakistan’s team was bowled out for 114 in 18 overs. This loss extends Pakistan’s losing record against India at World Cups, which now stands at eight wins for India and nine meetings overall.
India has a strong record against Pakistan in multi-nation tournaments, having won all eight of their encounters at ODI World Cups and eight of the sides’ nine meetings at T20 World Cups. The two cricket teams have agreed to only face each other in neutral venues under a longstanding compromise arrangement.
The last time India and Pakistan met in a Test match was over 18 years ago, while their bilateral series has not taken place since 13 years ago.
