India Qualifies for T20 World Cup Super Eights with Win Over Pakistan

India Defeats Pakistan by 61 Runs in T20 World Cup Group A Match

In a Group A match of the Twenty20 World Cup, India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday. The defending champions secured their place in the Super Eight stage with this win.

Ishan Kishan scored 77 for India, helping his team reach 175-7 in the innings. Pakistan’s spin-heavy attack managed to slow down India’s scoring after Kishan’s departure. However, India returned strong, bundling out Pakistan for 114 in 18 overs.

Pakistan had initially reversed their decision to boycott the game due to safety concerns, but later decided to proceed with the match. The team was reinforced by the return of Abhishek Sharma, who missed the first two matches due to a stomach infection.

In the innings, Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha opened the attack himself, which proved successful in restricting India’s scoring. However, Kishan’s aggressive batting eventually broke through the Pakistani defense. Ayub (3-25) and Bumrah took three wickets each to help India secure their victory.

Pakistan employed six spinners in the match, but this strategy was not enough to stem India’s momentum. The team slumped to 13-3 in two overs, making it difficult for them to recover. Usman Khan scored 44, but Axar Patel eventually dismissed him to seal Pakistan’s fate.

The match marked India’s third consecutive win in the tournament, securing their place in the Super Eight stage.
