India’s Twenty20 World Cup Squad Takes Hit with Harshit Rana’s Injury
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that fast bowler Harshit Rana will not be participating in the tournament due to a knee injury sustained during a warm-up match against South Africa. Mohammed Siraj has been named as his replacement.
Rana, who is also capable of batting, suffered the injury while bowling just one over before leaving the field on Wednesday. The team’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, had expressed concerns about Rana’s condition but stated that the squad has sufficient depth to handle the situation.
The International Cricket Council has approved Siraj as a replacement for Rana. With this change, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are likely to share the new-ball duties, while Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube will provide additional seam-bowling options.
India is seeking to become the first team in T20 World Cup history to successfully defend their title and also win as host nation. The team’s squad includes Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Washington Sundar, and Mohammed Siraj.
