Inter Miami Earns 3-2 Win Over Colorado Rapids in Denver
Lionel Messi scored two goals, including the match-winner, as Inter Miami defeated the Colorado Rapids 3-2 in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Saturday at Empower Field in Denver. The sold-out crowd of 75,824 witnessed a thrilling encounter.
The game got underway with an early goal for Inter Miami, courtesy of Yannick Bright’s interception pass that was converted into a penalty by Messi in the 18th minute. Colorado’s Zack Steffen attempted to clear the ball but was unable to prevent the goal.
In the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time, Inter Miami extended their lead to 2-0 with a well-crafted passing sequence. Rodrigo De Paul’s tight touch pass set up Mateo Silvetti, who headed in the goal via German Berterame’s header.
Colorado responded with two goals of their own, as Rafael Navarro scored in the 58th minute and Darren Yapi equalized in the 62nd minute. However, Inter Miami regained the lead in the 79th minute when Messi blasted into the upper left corner from inside midfield.
The match concluded with Inter Miami playing a man down after Yannick Bright was sent off with a red card in the 87th minute. Despite being down to 10 players, Inter Miami held on for the 3-2 victory, securing their fifth win of the season.
