Inter Miami Suffers Crushing Loss in MLS Cup Title Defence

Inter Miami played their season opener against Los Angeles FC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday night, with the match drawing a crowd of 75,673 - the second-largest attendance for a regular-season game in Major League Soccer history. The teams’ season opener ended in a 3-0 victory for Los Angeles FC.

David Martinez scored in the first half, followed by Denis Bouanga’s goal and assist in the second half. Nathan Ordaz added the final goal for LAFC in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Son Heung-Min provided the assist on Martinez’s opener.

Inter Miami goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made three saves during the match. Lionel Messi played for Los Angeles FC, making his first appearance in 15 matches across all competitions since a September 13 loss to Charlotte. German Berterame made his debut for Inter Miami.

LAFC dominated possession and shots throughout the match, leading 16-13 in shots and 6-3 in efforts on target. The teams’ statistics show that LAFC threatened constantly in transition during the first half, ultimately securing a 3-0 victory over Inter Miami.
