Investigation into alleged plots at Jeffrey Epsteins ranch intensifies

A member of the public has shared photos and correspondence with two state lawmakers investigating Jeffrey Epstein’s activities in New Mexico. The tipster claims to have seen “grave-like plots” at Epstein’s former ranch, known as the Zorro Ranch, and sent an email to Democratic Representatives Andrea Romero and Marianna Anaya last month. In the email, the individual stated that they had broken into the property in 2020 and found multiple plots that were “dug up.” The tipster also shared photos of the exterior of Epstein’s mansion, a white yurt on the grounds, and other items purportedly taken from inside the tent.
The correspondence was obtained by Al Jazeera through a public records request with the New Mexico Department of Justice. Romero forwarded the email to Kyle Hartsock, the director of special investigations at the department, who assured her that the tip was being looked into. However, Romero declined to provide further information about the credibility of the claims.
New Mexico State Attorney General Raul Torrez ordered authorities to reopen inquiries into the Zorro Ranch last month after unverified claims surfaced in a recent batch of files released by the US Justice Department. The tips included an anonymous email from 2019 that claimed two foreign girls’ bodies were buried outside the ranch on Epstein’s orders.
Epstein owned the Zorro Ranch from 1993 until his death in prison in 2019, and nearly a dozen accusers have said they were abused at the property. However, he was never charged with any crimes in New Mexico while alive. The New Mexico Department of Justice is currently searching the ranch, stating that investigators will follow the facts wherever they lead.
The tipster’s identity has been redacted due to privacy concerns. It is unclear if there is a connection between this individual and the person who sent the 2019 email claiming Epstein abused minors.
