Iran’s Military Responds with Strikes Against Israel
Tehran, Iran - Iranian authorities have launched a series of air attacks against Israel, following strikes on the Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh in Lebanon. The exchange of fire has raised concerns about a potential return to all-out war.
According to Iranian officials, the military operation, code-named “Nasr”, aimed to demonstrate retained capabilities and deter future Israeli raids. The attacks targeted command centres and military infrastructure in southern Lebanon, as well as sites in Israel itself.
Iran’s armed forces fired ballistic missiles from multiple cities, including Kermanshah, with US media reports indicating Washington was aware of the attack. The Islamic Republic has stated its willingness to enforce a deterrent warning if Israeli targeting of Lebanon persists.
Israel’s government claimed the strikes targeted a command centre of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, while also hitting “infrastructure for producing raw materials for the Iranian terror regime’s missile programme”. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked the Bazan oil refinery in Haifa, although the potential damage was unclear.
US President Donald Trump stated on social media that Israel and Iran were seeking an immediate ceasefire. The situation remains tense, with Iranian officials warning of harsher attacks if Israeli targeting of Lebanon continues.
The exchange of fire marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, which began on February 28.
