Multiple Countries Hit by Missile Attacks
Iran launched sustained missile and drone attacks against several countries in the Gulf region on Friday evening and early Saturday morning. The attacks targeted Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with multiple intercepts reported.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence stated that drones were intercepted and destroyed in the east and north of the country. Additionally, a ballistic missile was intercepted over the al-Kharj governorate. The ministry also confirmed that five US Air Force refuelling planes were damaged at an airbase in Saudi Arabia, with reports suggesting they were targeted by Iranian attacks.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defence reported multiple missile attacks and issued temporary evacuation measures for residents in affected areas. An intercepted missile strike was announced at 2am local time, while another incident occurred later in the morning. The ministry clarified that evacuation orders only applied to those who received notifications through the National Alert System.
Other countries in the region were also affected by the attacks. Kuwait’s National Guard shot down a drone in one of its areas of responsibility, citing ongoing efforts to enhance security and protect vital sites. A building in Dubai suffered damage from falling debris after an attack was successfully neutralized.
Iran has been launching missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region since the start of the conflict launched by the United States and Israel. The country’s actions have been met with repeated protests from its neighbours, but it continues to press on with its retaliation efforts.
