Iran Executes Three Convicted of Police Killing During Recent Unrest

Iran Executes Three Convicted of Killing Police Officers and Supporting US-Israel Interests

Three individuals have been executed in Iran, according to the judiciary’s Mizan Online website. The executions were carried out for murder and operational actions in favor of the Zionist regime and the United States.

The individuals involved in the killings of two law enforcement personnel were among those convicted. Authorities reported 3,117 people killed during anti-establishment protests that began in late December. The UN and international human rights organizations stated that state forces were behind the killings, which occurred primarily on January 8 and 9.

In February, Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported verifying 6,872 deaths and investigating over 11,000 cases. A UN special rapporteur estimated the death toll to be potentially higher than 20,000 due to limited information availability.

Iranian authorities have recently executed a Swedish citizen and announced hundreds of arrests across the country. The Ministry of Intelligence stated that operations were conducted to counter “traitors” aligned with US and Israeli interests. In addition, Iranian authorities claimed to have stopped several “pro-monarchy cells” in 26 provinces from launching acts opposing the country’s establishment.

In recent months, Iran has carried out executions for alleged spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. The executions follow a crackdown on alleged collaborators following the 12-day Israel-US war on Iran.
