Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reviewing US Response to Proposal
The Iranian government has confirmed that diplomatic efforts with the United States remain open, despite tensions in the region escalating. According to reports from Iran’s state media, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir will visit Tehran later today as part of ongoing mediation efforts between the two countries.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that all paths for a diplomatic solution with the US “remain open” from his country’s perspective. However, he also warned that attempts to force Iran into surrender through pressure or threats are “unrealistic.”
Separately, Iran has established a new authority, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority, which announced the creation of a “supervision area” in the Strait of Hormuz. This move requires vessels to obtain permission before transiting the strategic waterway.
Meanwhile, global condemnation is growing over Israel’s treatment of detainees linked to pro-Palestinian activism. A video posted by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir appeared to taunt activists from a Gaza-bound aid flotilla while they were allegedly being mistreated by Israeli prison guards. Rights groups and critics have accused Ben-Gvir of inflaming tensions.
The Iranian government has been engaged in message exchanges with the US, based on Tehran’s original “14-point” proposal. The US response to this proposal is currently being reviewed by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
