Iran Experiences Death Toll Rise Amid Ongoing Conflict
A missile strike on an industrial area in Isfahan has resulted in at least 15 fatalities, with workers present at the factory during the attack, according to Iranian media reports. The Fars news agency attributed the incident to US and Israeli forces.
This marks the 15th day of a conflict that has claimed the lives of at least 1,444 people and injured over 18,500 since February 28, according to Iran’s Ministry of Health. Cities across the country have been targeted following the onset of hostilities.
On March 8, shelling damaged Russia’s consulate in Isfahan, injuring staff, with Moscow describing the strike as a “blatant violation” of international conventions. Iran’s Ministry of Culture reported that 56 museums and historic sites had been damaged, including Naqsh-e Jahan Square and the Golestan Palace.
Separately, an Israeli attack resulted in the death of Brigadier General Abdullah Jalali-Nasab, who was described as having “martyred while defending the country” by Iran’s army. US forces also struck Kharg Island, which handles approximately 90 percent of Iran’s crude exports, with operations continuing normally and no reported casualties.
US President Donald Trump had previously threatened to target the island’s oil infrastructure if Tehran continued to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz. A White House official stated that the president is focused on pressing ahead with the mission, while an Iranian official ruled out talks until the attacks cease.
Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi called for neighbours to “expel foreign aggressors,” while Israeli Minister of Defence Israel Katz described the war as entering a “decisive phase” that would continue as long as necessary. Iran launched new missile salvoes at Israel on Saturday, with six waves of missiles striking wide areas of the country.
